hi guys,
I take this opportunity to wish you a happy new year!

in the past I have been interested to strains called medical cannabis, the famous CBD-rich (for example see http://cbd-crew.org/ ), but I had never looked for information on how they were acting in the brain (I am not biochemist).

for those who do not know, the CBD is a non-psychoactive substance contained in cannabis. see http://www.leafscience.com/2014/02/23/5-must-know-facts-cannabidiol-cbd/

After a quick search I found these articles about 5HT1A autoreceptors:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21827451

https://atrium.lib.uoguelph.ca/xmlui/handle/10214/3166

https://books.google.ch/books?id=ZNIorLciZCoC&pg=PA262&lpg=PA262&dq=cbd+5ht1a+autoreceptor&source=bl&ots=t-xcoPn4ED&sig=-FyXWFdM7vY00Dwt1DXKVTsjeDY&hl=it&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjshuv1hZbKAhXFVywKHZXXCe0Q6AEIYjAH#v=onepage&q=cbd%205ht1a%20autoreceptor&f=false

so...CBD could be useful for those who have PSSD?

Recently a company in Switzerland is working on products CBD-rich ( http://cannaliz.ch/ ), for now make oils, cosmetics, dab wax and eliquids for electronic cigarettes. I'd be interested to eliquids and probably I will try to buy them these days. They market these products only in Switzerland, do not send abroad.
But there are other companies who market worldwide (for example see http://www.deltaliquids.com/ or write cbd eliquids in google)

what do you think?

greetings

Thanks for this post , Flip...

Yes, it's Possible it could help some cases of PSSD. Particularly the delayed ejaculation and absent orgasm part of it..as 5-HT1A activation on the pre-synaptic side seems to help with this..however, the real Question will remain : What are it's intrinsic activity and how much does this correlate to human usage/dosage?

That means, how much does it activate the receptor but also, in proportion to it's other Properties - will the net result still be beneficial?

..And finally, is there more pre-synaptic or post-synaptic activation with CBD? We want to try and stay away from post-synaptic activation. Arrow

Ok, I tried it.
It makes me a sense of calm and tranquility.
Can I see through the effect if it works even post-synaptically?

I just read your latest article on your blog.
The article on CB1 antagonists.
So I can deduce that THC is a CB1 agonist?
So marijuana is bad for PSSD and fertility/penile erections, right?
And the CBD?

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20218784

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17245363

I want to see if I can finish the bottle that I bought, or is it better not. Rolling Eyes

Maybe in the future I'll try to buy a CB1 antagonist you say in your article, now I want resensitize 5HT1A receptors with berberine + icariin, which they failed to do so far, perhaps because of the THC?

Berberine has more of an effect on the serotonin transporter than sensitivity (5-HTT)

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21647174

Pharmacogenomics J. 2012 Oct;12(5):372-8. doi: 10.1038/tpj.2011.24. Epub 2011 Jun 7.
Berberine and evodiamine influence serotonin transporter (5-HTT) expression via the 5-HTT-linked polymorphic region.
Hu Y1, Ehli EA, Hudziak JJ, Davies GE.
Author information
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of berberine and evodiamine on serotonin transporter (5-HTT) expression and then test how allelic variations previously identified in the promoter region could modulate that effect in the serotonergic neuronal cell line RN46A. Both berberine and evodiamine, alone and in combination, increased 5-HTT mRNA and protein expression significantly across the various alleles. When tested against the S, XS(11), L(G), L(A), XL(17), and XL(18) alleles, respectively, 100 μM berberine increased 5-HTT promoter activities by 67%, 128.7%, 106.9%, 100.4%, 26.2% and 82%, 2 μM evodiamine increased 5-HTT promoter activities by 216.7%, 81.6%, 305.6%, 181.5%, 175.3% and 102.2%. Berberine and evodiamine increased 5-HTT promoter activity differently depending on the genetic variation of the 5-HTTLPR polymorphism. This study has provided a convincing example of how herbal compounds influence the expression of one of the most intensively studied psychiatric candidate genes, the serotonin transporter.

CBD does have antagonistic properties; but it is brain-region-specific.
5-HT1A antagonism only helps the erection component, onsoforth that the libido component is indirectly '*perceived*' as ''AFFECTED''.
